The Ultimate Guide to Luxury Italian Destination Weddings: Venice, Tuscany and Sicily Must-Sees Wedding Venues

When dreaming of the perfect destination wedding, Italy always tops the list. As an Italian-American myself, it’s not hard to see why. Romance, sophistication, and unforgettable experiences — that’s what marks a wedding in this beautiful country. Not to mention, the May through October wedding season offers consistently beautiful weather, making it ideal for outdoor celebrations and extended guest experiences.

But not all locations in Italy are the same. Each region provides something unique for couples looking to tie the knot. Whether it’s picturesque beaches in Sicily, or centuries-old buildings in Tuscany, each region is full of beautiful Italian destination wedding venues.

Which region is right for you? Let’s explore what makes places like Venice, Tuscany, Sicily, and Lake Como — top destinations in Italy — so special.

Luxury Italian Wedding Destination: Venice

For Couples Looking for Romance

Venice embodies romance like no other destination, but its privacy and intimacy are what make it so remarkable for a wedding. There must be a reason if the richest man in the world Jeff Bezos, decided to get married in Venice! However, the city’s popularity means careful planning is essential.

Keep in mind that the best month for a wedding in Venice is typically June, or late September after the film festival. The summer crowds begin to thin, the weather is near-perfect, and the golden light creates magical photography opportunities along the canals.

If you want to make sure you avoid the crowds of tourists, we will work together to select exclusive, private venues with controlled access.

Something fun to note, from a planner’s perspective: I currently live in Venice and started my career here! In addition to my amazing connections from my history here, I know ALL the hidden gems that help us create authentic Italian experience that also feels private and cherished!

Top-Rated Venice Wedding Venues in Venice

One of my favorite Venice wedding venues is The Gritti Palace. It’s the perfect atmosphere for elopements and small weddings. Think ceremony, live music aperitvo, elegant seated dinner and even after-dinner party!

Another location I love, and this sentiment is shared with George Glooney, is The Cipriani. Near the city, but with the Island Life Vibe! If you’ve dreamed of incorporating a boat of any kind into your wedding, this is your venue!

Luxury Italian Wedding Destination: Tuscany

For Couples Searching for Sweeping Landscapes and Timeless Elegance

Tuscany consistently ranks as the #1 destination for American couples planning Italian weddings, and for good reason. The region offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, world-class wine culture, and exceptional experiences compared to other northern Italy destinations.

If you want to take advantage of all that the region has to offer, aim for a June wedding. That way, you’ll have beautiful weather, full vineyard foliage, and ideal conditions for outdoor celebrations and guest activities.

For Tuscany wedding venues, I recommend considering a countryside villa rather than a luxury hotel. They tend to provide a more authentic experience. Not to mention, more privacy for an intimate gathering.

Borgo Stommenano is a MAGICAL place in the heart of Tuscany

Borgo Stomennano is surrounded by woods, vineyards and olive groves, and with its final transformation in 1700 was converted into the holiday residence it remains to this day.

Plus, the provide:

  • On-site accommodations are ideal for multi-day wedding celebrations
  • Rolling hill vistas create picture-perfect moments
  • Wine estate setting offering authentic Tuscan experiences

You also must book Borgo Stomennano far in advance – so this is best if you’re getting married at least 12-18+ months from now!

My next recommendation is Villa Cetinale. This Tuscan Estate is picturesque and private! Voted the most beautiful villa in Tuscany by Architectural Digest too!

Cetinale is an architectural marvel with a world famous garden, its own chapel – which can be used for an intimate blessing and holy wood. There is no other Villas which can be compared to the Beauty of Cetinale

And last, but not least, is Il Borro. A bit more rustic, and in the heart of Tuscany, this venue offers incredible hospitality and an authentic Tuscan experience.

Luxury Italian Wedding Destination: Sicily

For Couples Longing for That Authentic Italian Charm

Sicily is rapidly emerging as THE destination wedding spot. It also happens to be near and dear to my heart, as I still have family in Sicilit and it is always a favorite place to go for me. If authentic charm and stunning seaside views are what you’re dreaming of, this may be the perfect place for you.

This southern Italy gem is perfect for extended celebrations in May, with plenty for guests to immerse themselves in the rich culture of Southern Italy. The month of May also brings beautiful spring weather, fewer crowds, and perfect conditions for extended outdoor celebrations and guest exploration.

Sicily is becoming a trendier location, but now is a great time to book because it’s not overpopulated (yet!) with destination couples.
